    This backmark is listed in
    Tice's "Uniform Button of the United States 1776-1865" on page 23 with a date of 1850's-1860's. The yacht club began in the 1870'sAlthough it wasn't unheard of to use old button backs, it seems unlikely they were reusing them for too long and this is probably one of the first buttons ordered for the club.
    It's old.
    Button measures about 7/8ths inches across.
    Button is in excellent condition. There is a small amount of tarnish on the front . The face has some  very slight wear and there is some surface dirt you can remove should you choose. The gold gilt is at near 100% intact. Overall button is in excellent condition.
