    Description

    1897-S Barber Quarter, Semi Key date, Good with full rims. Out of a very old set, lightly cleaned at some point long ago, as have been 95% of survivors.  The Obverse is a bit darker than the Reverse as this was the "down" side in a Whitman folder.  It was common in many older sets for the Philadelphia Mint coin to be Obverse up to show the date, while the Branch Mint coins were Obverse down to show the Mintmark - very "old school".
