ORIGINAL 1920s TRADE - ADVERTISING CARD
1701 'ST. GEORGE' ENGLISH WARSHIP SAILING MODEL
This famous English warship of 96 guns
carried a crew of 680 men. The splendid
model illustrated is in the Metropolitan
Museum, New York, and is of pear-wood,
to.the scale of four feet to the inch.
The finely-executed figure-head of St.
George and the Dragon is admirably de-
signed so that the back of the latter fills the
curve of the extremity of the  beak. All
the gear used in stowing the anchors is
reproduced in every detail. The various
St. Georges of the British Navy have
a fine battle-record, being associated with
Blake's bombardment of Tunis, 1655 3 Sole
Bay,71672; the battle off the Texel, 1673;
Hood's occupation of Toulon, 1793; and
Hothams actions off Genoa and Hyeres,
1795 .
