    Description

    Here are two vintage postcards - from 1934 and 1940 - regarding
    saving sea lions of Alaska
    and
    Whales
    - in pending legislations before the House of Representatives. The postcards were addressed to a member of the Izaak Walton League (conservation organization) Chapter in Los Angeles. The 1930 card reads " S.O.S. - FOR THE SEA LIONS OF ALASKA." THE 1940 card appears to reference legislation regarding hunting whales outside the U.S. The writer was in the Department of Anatomy at Johns Hopkins Medical School.
    I think this shows the Izaak Walton League's history of commitment to conserve marine life in North America. The League was an early advocate of protecting animals in the U.S. The two postcards are in good condition.
