Cardiff Giant HeadlineFake Newspaper Mock-up
This is one 1950s Fake Newspaper Mock-up Featuring the Historical Headline "Huge Giant Found Buried On New York State Farm"
. One sheet, printed on both sides. Measures approximately 16 ¼" x 22 ½".
The Cardiff Giant was one of the most famous hoaxes in American history. It was purported to be a petrified man measuring over 10 feet tall, that was uncovered in 1869 by workers digging a well in Cardiff, NY. Both it and an unauthorized copy made by P.T. Barnum are still on display.
This fake newspaper one sheet was printed in the late 1950s for a carnival promoter with the Cetlin Wilson Show, who had a sideshow featuring a replica of the Cardiff Giant in 1959. This is NOT an original newspaper.
