Description
Travel back in time with this classic vintage guitar amplifier. Made in December 1954 (stamped date code DL) at the old Fender factory in Fullerton, California, it's a Fender Deluxe SD3.It works and sounds great. The previous owner had new capacitors put in, but it comes with the old capacitors. I assume the tubes aren't original, but do not know for sure. Other than that, I believe it is all original, including the two-prong power cord.
One 12" Jensen speaker (speaker code
220448)
, made in November 1954. I think it has a 15 watt output.
The tweed has some age and use wear, including what may be some cigarette burns on the top, as to be expected. The leather handle has age and use wear. All in all, though, it looks okay for a 67 year old amplifier!
I turned it on slowly with my Variac, and it works fine. The previous longtime, but not original, owner is a 77-year old engineer-by-day musician-by-night who takes good care of all his stuff.
It sounds great.
For shipping, I'll take the tubes out of their slots, label them, and wrap them up separately.
