Set of three (3) unmounted lantern slides (missing cover plate). These images show men cutting into a large blocks of stone (granite?); a crowd of men have gathered to watch. No idea if this is construction before the opening or if there was a demonstration or competition going on, perhaps it had something to do with the Colorado Gold Mine Exhibit.
Condition:
some emulsion silvering at edges ; minor soiling ; minor scratches ; minor wear to some edges.
These items is in an acid free sleeves.

The California Midwinter International Exposition was held in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park from January 27 to July 4, 1894. It showcased selected exhibits from Chicago’s Columbian World's Fair as well as an impressive number of new exhibits at its specially constructed fairground, the 'Sunset City'.
