A 24-gun Royal Navy frigate, the Surprise was launched out of Nova Scotia in 1794 and sailed in active service along the North American east coast for more than 30 years. Painstakingly hand-built by master craftsman to exact specifications, this model ship’s hull and masts are constructed from solid rosewood, mahogany, teak, and other tropical woods. The sails are crafted of real fabric cloth, while all the ship’s hardware and decorative accents are made from chrome and brass.
