The Lynx
a square topsail schooner
was built as a blockade runner in Fells Point, Baltimore, by Thomas Kemp. She had a very short privateering career and was captured by the British at the start of her second run from the Chesapeake to France. She then promptly entered British Naval service as a revenue cutter, was renamed Mosquidobit, and was stationed in Nova Scotia. She was later sent to England and her lines were taken off on May 10, 1816.
The replica Lynx
now based in Newport Beach, California was launched in 2001 in Rockport, Maine. She was built by Rockport Marine and designed by Melbourne Smith.
