ANTIQUE FRENCH CATHOLIC MEDAL CRUCIFIX - INSTRUMENTS OF PASSION - SACRED HEART

Rare antique medium-sized (approx. 1-1/8" tall with bale) Catholic medal featuring iconic image of the Crucified Savior with the Instruments of the Passion
(Arma Christi) on the background, including the hammer, pincers, the Holy Sponge set on a reed, the Holy Lance, the whip, the ladder used for the Deposition, and the Crucifixion nails.
The image is overarched with inscription in French language: "CHRIST AYEZ PITIE DE NOUS" ("CHRIST, HAVE MERCY ON US"). The other side shows image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
framed with a partially worn off inscription in French that appears to be a prayer beginning with the words: "O JESUS". The medal appears to have been made from bronze or similar historical copper alloy. Origin likely c. 19th century France. The medal shows visible signs of aging and wear consistent with its suggested age, including diminished quality of images and inscriptions, scratches, dents and small deformations, and patches of dark patina or discoloration.
The inside of the necklace bale shows signs of wear consistent with long continuous wearing.
The top bale loop appears visibly worn off and thin, but is not broken.
