Description
Custom 5.5" scale light-up Battle Damage Dalek Emperor as seen inThe Evil of the Daleks
(1967)
Greetings on behalf of the
3D Printing Doctor Who
project.
Our goal is to supplement the official 5.5" scale Character Options toy line with free articulated action figures that people can download and print at home (assuming they have access to a 3D printer). Since this is a non-commercial fan project, I normally don't allow my creations to be sold on eBay, but every few years I make an exception for some of the prototypes I test-printed along the way to developing my final designs. Most of these prototypes have at least one small thing wrong with them, which I will point out in the description below, but if you don't own a 3D printer and don't feel like paying an arm and a leg to use a print-to-order service, this is your only chance to own a one-of-a-kind piece of custom Doctor who memorabilia.
All funds earned from these auctions get recycled back into the project to cover equipment and material costs to help bring you, the fans, even more free Doctor Who figures!
I will be listing about
60 items
from my collection of prototypes across the next few days, so please
check out my other auctions
. Once they're gone... they're gone, and there will be no more!
What You're Buying:
Print media:
SLA resin with internal lighting added.
Item description:
This is a remix of an original figure designed by (and sold with the express permission of) guest designer Edward Felix.
This Dalek Emperor has been modified to incorporate internal LEDs which can be turned on and off by pressing one of the black hemispheres on the back!
Press the concealed button once to turn on all LEDs at once, and press again to make them flash on and off. (While no surviving footage of the Emperor from the transmitted episode exists it appears from behind the scenes 8mm footage that these “crown” lights and the light in the eye stalk served the same purpose as the dome lights on regular Daleks and flashed whenever the Emperor was speaking.)
But that's not all.... this deluxe edition also comes with
two removable battle damage panels
where you can lift off the front of the skirt to
reveal the dead mutant and burnt out interior
as seen during the final battle in the Emperor's throne room!
Please note that this was my very first attempt at building an Emperor with these panels, and because I got a few of my sums wrong, I had to manually grind down part of the model, so the panels don't fit quite as snugly as their could. Also, the hemisphere button on the back of the Emperor hangs loose in it's socket when not pushed all the way in.
The internal "mutant core" of this figure contains several holes in the top and bottom. This is so you can add extra tubing to the interior. Personally, I recommend getting some heavy gauge wire in a variety of colors and then winding them up around a pencil or screwdriver to recreate the curly "phone cord" style tubing that was used in the original prop.
I've finalized the Emperor design since printing this model, so it is unlikely that any more will be going up for auction. Also note that this figure was printed on an extremely expensive state-of-the-art large capacity resin printer that costs about 00. The Emperor is way too bit to fit on most normal resin printers, so even if you own a 3D printer yourself, chances are this is the only way you'll ever get one resin printed in this scale without forking over some major dough
.
The Fine Print:
All figures are one-of-a-kind and sold "as is." While I will do my utmost to ensure your figure arrives in the same condition shown here, there is nothing I can do to repair or replace an item if it breaks. Be warned that these "action figures" are imperfect pieces of fan art intended for display purposes only and nowhere near as durable as the toys you regularly buy in stores. They can and will break it you aren't careful with them. If you plan on displaying the figure on a shelf you might want to try hot gluing the legs down (assuming it has legs) to a piece of cardstock or foamcore so it can't topple over in the middle of the night and take the rest of your collection with it.
Shipping:
Shipped with USPS First Class (US Residents) or USPS First Class International (Worldwide). Apologies in advance that postage is so high for U.K. residents, but consider it vicarious payback for all the times I've had to pay to ship a £12 figure set to the United States.
If you win multiple items, I will happily combine shipping. Just wait until all the auctions are over or request a total when you're ready to check out.
As a way of apologizing for the U.S. postal system and terrible $ to £ exchange rate, each package I send out will contain a super secret mystery bonus "figure" free of charge?
What sort of “mystery figure” can fit flat inside a tiny 2.25” x 3.75” envelope? You'll just have to wait to find out!
