    Description

Hello and thank you for viewing my auction.
This is a section of the bilge area removed during the 1990's Constitution restoration. As you can see, this bolt had snapped long ago and was unsuitable for further service and removed from the ship.
This is a first hand family artifact. My father was a Naval Architect based out of the Boston Navy SUPSHIP attachment which occasionally assisted in that extensive restoration. I went with him to the ship for just one day and was allowed to roam around in the ship as my dad worked on a project. At the end of the project we were allowed to take this piece home.
Attached are his old ID's showing him attached in Boston and his occupation was listed as Naval Architect Technician as well as his large rolodex of cards showing one of his peers with the Costitution as their official logo.
The bolt was hammered into these two pieces of wood and are believed to have split off  rotten piece. The bolt was removed (but can go back in) and checked for a stamp. No stamp exists, but was of the original bolt lot.
Not many of the Constitutions relics have as much documentation as I have provided so you can be sure this is authentic.
This sale will go towards the purchase of Subsea profiling equipment.
