Vernon Kilns made commemorative plates for a wide variety of states, cities, people, organizations, and some countries.  Vernon Kilns closed its doors in the 1950s.
The plate depicts a variety of traditional and historic American scenes

An Early Automobile
The First Railroad
A Yankee Clipper
A Pioneer Farmer with Ox and Plow
The Wright Brothers' Airplane
George Washington in New York, Inaugural Oath
Chicago Board of Trade Building (horse drawn carriages in front)
The back of the plate is inscribed in brown
underglaze with  the words:

style rim decorated with the words:

with no chips, cracks, or restorations.
The transfer print is very good and very clear.
