    THIS IS AN ORIGINAL 1920s TRADE  ADVERTISING CARD
    PATTAMAR
    The Pattamar is a trading
    vessel used by the Mohammedan
    seamen of Bombay and Malabar,
    and is of the dhow type, resem-
    bling the baggara of the Red Sea,
    but of stouter and better build,
    and capable of standing very -
    rough weather. The Pattamar
    runs from 60 to 200 tons, and the
    larger boats are about 76 feet
    long, with beam of about 22 feet
    and depth of 12 feet. The usual
    rig is of main and mizen
    lateen sails.
