Letter Royal Ulster Yacht Club 1917 Agreeing Cancel 1914 Cup Challange Shamrock

Letter to owners/NY Yacht Club from the Ulster Yacht Club agreeing to let the 1914 Cup race lapse. A historic letter and they are agreeing to race the 2 same yachts after the War. They obviously both want to save money as well as see who would have won. The British are annoyed that the Shamrock IV made it to NY in time for the race and for whatewver reason the 1914 race was cancelled anyway. Digging through all these documents there may be letters why the US cancelled and perhaps it was more than WWI. Perhaps it had something to do with all the sail problems the Resolute was having. THe Brits do not seem to want to antagonize the AMericans as they are just happy to be supported in the War. The Resolute, sponsored by the NY Yacht Club won the right to defend the 1914 Cup. The race was belatedly cancelled due to the start of WWI. It would defend the cup and win in 1920.

THey are personal correspondences and documents pertaining to the yacht or about the yacht.
