Lilly Daché (c.1898-1989) was a milliner and fashion designer especially influential in the 1930s and 1940s. Despite her humble beginnings as a salesperson at Macy’s, she managed to break into the world of couture hats, and later into handbags, perfumes, and costume jewelry. She retired in 1968.
G. George was the business name for shirtmaker George Cicalo (1913-2006), who founded his company in 1945. In 1947 he set up his shop at 110 West 40th Street in Manhattan, where he would remain until his retirement in 2004.
