THIS IS AN ORIGINAL 1920s TRADE  ADVERTISING CARD
THE FELUCCA
The Felucca was a Medi-
terranean type of long, narrow
vessel, with low freeboard, and
capable of being propelled, in the
galley fashion, by oarsmen when
occasion demanded. The lateen
sail, the long triangular spread
of canvas so common in these
seas, was used both in the small
two-masted merchant vessels and
in the larger boats. The three-
masted Felucca of the last
century and of earlier times was
used for war purposes by several
nations, including Greece, in the
war of 1819.
