This is a fascinating book about W. A. Robinson's activities after WWII, how he developed his 70 ft brigantine, Varua, and his voyage to Tahiti, his purchase of an island, a quest to investigate Polynesian origins by blood samples that takes him, his crew, and medical researchers westward all the way to Malaysia and Thailand. There is plenty of detail in this well written account and gives a good sense of how life in Polynesia has changed from the old days to modern. It is interesting how Robinson laments the passing of Old Tahiti, yet most of todays cruisers would lament the passing of Robinson's Tahiti.
