    This a model of Defender a J Class racing yacht. It was the 1895 America's Cup winner.
    William K. Vanderbilt, was co-owner of the yacht "Defender" which won the America's Cup race in 1895. Designed by Nathanael Greene Herreshoff and built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company in 1895, Defender was a sloop with all-metal construction: steel, aluminum, and manganese bronze. Skipper was Henry C. Haff. Vanderbilt's partners were Edwin Dennison Morgan and Charles Oliver Iselin
    The model measure 34 inches by 34 inches. with a dark Blue Hull and full stitched sales.
