Slash recorded JMI VoX AC15 AC30 1963 1964 vintage guitar amp amplifier combo

Here is a vintage 1963-64 JMI VOX AC15 bought from record producer Eric Valentine and used on all sorts of records including Slash's first solo album. Check out the youtube video of Eric demonstrating it called "Eric Valentine's Electric Guitars -Surf Guitar". It was sold to me as an AC30 that was modded to be an AC15, which is strange because it has the copper panel of an AC15 (so maybe it was modded to be more like an AC30?) I don't really know but it was modded by Cesar Diaz who was famously Stevie Ray Vaughan's amp tech, and worked with Dylan, Clapton, Richards, Young, and Guitar World called him the "Amp Doctor". So, cool person to have worked on this old and great sounding amp!
It is in pretty good condition cosmetically. There are two tares in the tolex on the front (which can easily be superglued shut so it's fairly undetectable if so desired). One of the corner piece is broken (pictured). There is an AC30 sticker on one side that I also left alone. Nice power cord and original footswitch. Speakers are webers. There are pics of the inside as well where you can see the modification and stamp of Cesar Diaz. It's missing some screws on the back and the screw by the input doesn't go all the way in so just be careful with it when plugging in your guitar. There are a few white dot's on the grill cloth (presumably where mics were placed). The top could easily be cleaned with soap and water to make look nicer, but again I'm just preserving it how I got it. I have been using it to record and it's a really special amp!
This amp was used at Barefoot Studios, which used to be Crystal Studios. According to Barefoot's site, Crystal had artists like Barbara Streisand, Bangles, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Brian Wilson, Carole King, Chicago, The Doors, Funkadelic, George Clinton, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Herbie Hancock, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Jimi Hendrix, Lionel Richie, Miles Davis, Mötley Crüe, No Doubt, Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Stevie Wonder, Sly & The Family Stone, record there. When it was bought and renamed Barefoot, they recorded albums with Smash Mouth, Queens Of The Stone Age, Good Charlotte, Lostprophets, Green Day, John Fogerty, Dwarves, Nickel Creek, Taking Back Sunday, Maroon 5, The All-American Rejects, Slash, The Wombats, Keith Urban, Grace Potter, Death From Above, Weezer, Gwen Stefani. So pretty cool history in that building where this amp lived.
Slash used this amp (as well as his Marshall) on his first solo record in 2010 that featured Ozzy, Fergie, Ian Astbury, Miles Kennedy, Chris Cornell, Andrew Stockdale, Adam Levine, Lemmy, and Iggy Pop. Andrew Stockdale) "By The Sword"             Eric breaks down the song (and other songs on his killer youtube show). If you record or mix music, it's a must watch. He has another one where they break down "All Star" by Smash Mouth. In the video Eric seems to think maybe this amp was used on that song, which was a big hit. There is another video that he shows pictures of Smash Mouth recording with this amp, so it would make sense. I seriously can't imagine how many songs this has been used to record since 1963-64! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that John Lennon used this on stage. Just kidding but they did use these kind of amps back in the early to mid sixties. The Beatles are my favorite, so being able to play through a super hard to find 1963-64 AC15 is a treat to say the least.
