Holy Medal on Chain
Finally back in stock but in limited quantities!  This 7/8" silver-toned medal with St Catherine of Alexandria on the front and a crucifix on the back.
Made in Italy; shiny with a bit of oxidation added.  Medal comes with a 24" continuous stainless steel chain.  No clasp - slips over your head.  Fits over most size heads.
Comes gift boxed and with a St Catherine of Alexandria prayer card plus a couple of other prayer cards of our choice, plus a gift bag and tissue paper.  If you have favorite saints or devotions, send me a message when you purchase and if I have that prayer card(s) I will include it.
St Catherine of Alexandria was a noble young woman of the 4th century; daughter of a governor in Alexandria, Egypt, she devoted herself to study and became a Christian.  When persecutions of Christians began, Catherine went to the emperor to criticize him for his cruelty.  The emperor ordered his learned advisers to debate with her about her faith; she won the debate so well that some of the advisers were converted and were subsequently put to death.  The emperor tortured Catherine and then offered to have her married off; she refused, and was sentenced to death by the wheel, a cruel punishment.  But the wheel broke when she touched it, and the martyr was finally beheaded.
St Catherine is the patron saint of girls and unmarried women; craftspeople who use a wheel such as potters and spinners; mechanics; schoolchildren and scholars; wheelwrights; haberdashers; secretaries, stenographers, theologians, philosophers, preachers, nurses, lawyers, libraries and librarians, dying people, jurists, knife sharpeners, educators, millers and scribes.  An important saint and a strong, brave woman who is a wonderful role model for today's young, strong, brave women!
