    USS GRAPPLE ARS-7 naval cover with pictorial postmark from Andersonville, GA dated April 9, 2008. Color Photo printed on cachet #7900 by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964. Cover franked with a 15 cent Vietnam Campaign Ribbon stamp #1802 and a 42 cent US flag stamp.
    Cover prepared on an Archive Quality Envelope without gum on flap.
    Cover with a DIY matte and 5x7 frame, makes a fine gift!
    USS Grapple: This Navy Rescue and Salvage ship was built by Basalt Rock Company in Napa, California and commissioned 16 December 1943. The vessel earned three Battle Stars in WW II. She was re-commissioned for the Korean War and earned one battle star in that conflict. The vessel was to have a long life: she served in Vietnam between 1966 and 1972, earning five Campaign Stars, and in the peace time Pacific until decommissioned in1977 and was sold to Taiwan's Navy.
