In October 1933 Macon flew to Moffett Field, CA from which began an extensive program of exercises off the Pacific Coast, testing her abilities for fleet scouting and other missions. During this time Macon made a long-distance flight over the Pacific Ocean in mid-July 1934 to intercept the cruiser USS Houston CA-30, which was carrying President Franklin D. Roosevelt from Panama to Hawaii. Fleet exercises in 1934–1935 further demonstrated Macon's ability to conduct strategic searching should there be a Pacific war. During the early evening of 12 February 1935, while returning to Moffett Field from an operation over the ocean Macon crashed off the coast of California.
Only two of the 76 crew members were lost thanks to the warm conditions and the introduction of life jackets and inflatable rafts after the Akron tragedy.

Many of these covers, and especially postal history, have been through the mail and so expect normal wear. Most, if not all Postal History covers, have been opened by the recipient as should be expected. We do not take returns.

The cost of shipping Naval or First Day Cover Programs is .00 with each additional item at .50. We currently are not shipping to overseas destinations.
We take great care in packaging your items. If we receive your order and payment Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, we shipped the very next day. Saturday and Sunday orders are shipped Monday.
