"Famous Barr" can be traced back to Motte's a store founded in 1874 by Jesse Motte in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1892, retailer David May acquired the Famous Clothing Store and later acquired the William Barr Dry Good's Co. In 1911 he merged the two to create "Famous-Barr". In 1914, David opened a new Famous Barr Department store, which was the first air conditioned department store in the country. Famous-Barr was retired on Sept 9, 2005 when Federated converted most of Macy's original department stores.
This item does not smell of smoke, mildew, mothballs or have pet odor. I do not note any particular damage or stains. It has been cleaned, but may have a very slight musty odor.
