I had not seen this Frederick Fields print before. There are only a handful of his prints floating around on this site but they all have a certain cachet. The matte chosen and the frame used are so important in offsetting the art and showcasing it. Here the framer has made very discreet decisions that really advance the presentation of the work. This measures 15 in by 12 in (frame). The title is Fisherman at Work. To me, it almost feels a little bit surreal. There is something in the handling of the figure and small craft at the front that almost feels like Magritte. And the one sailng craft in the distance almost feels ghostly. But the sea is mysterious. So it is probably appropriate that this does have a feeling of mystery about it. The colors are quite lovely with the soupcon of pastel tones.
