Very clean, original owner, since 1976, 100% bone stock, fully functioning, late 60's Oliver Powerflex 502A with 15" Altec Lansing speaker. Very rare beauty indeed, especially in this condition. It features a motorized head unit that raises out of the cab at the flick of a switch. The tolex (cabinet) has a few small scrapes but nothing major. The grill cloth is in good condition. All handles are strong. This beast of an amp don't appear for sale very often especially at this price. FEATURES: Individual volume, bass, treble controls for each channel. The 502 model has 2 channels, the first having controls for volume, treble and bass, the second including reverb, midrange and Ultra-High. Also comes with a heavy duty 360 degree turn, detachable dolly assembly. Self retractable 15 foot cord. Edge lit control panel. Jess Oliver (born Oliver Jespersen) was the creative genius responsible for many of the classic AmpegTM amplifier designs of the sixties, the most notable being the ground-breaking B15N Portaflex bass amplifier. Jess left the company in 1966 and formed Oliver Sound Company. Jess ceased production of his own line of sound equipment in the 70's, but continued to operate his repair business, under the Oliver Sound Co. name, for more than 30 years.
The Powerflex took a Jetsons-like approach to the Porta-Flex offered store owners a modern alternative to the popular Ampegs, with internally connected speaker cables and a light up control panel, which was a step up from just the light up logo on the Ampeg portaflex. Oliver’s initial offering introduced the amazing Powerflex Series to the world, featuring “…the patented telescoping amplifier unit which automatically elevates the amplifier section out of the speaker enclosure.”
