Vtg Tyrus Wong Disney Artist Signed CA Artists Unused Christmas Card & Envelope

This vintage hard-to-find Tyrus Wong California Artists Christmas card is in excellent, unused condition. It likely dates back to the 1950s or 60s and includes its original olive green envelope. I have not been able to find this particular design in any internet search. It features the Holy Family resting alongside a stream with a donkey and is signed by Tyrus Wong both in English and Chinese. It has a glittery gold border on both the top and bottom of each card, and Jesus, Mary and Joseph's halos are also glittery gold. There is also a faint glitter across the card in its entirety. It measures approximately 7" x 3" and reads, "May the joy of this Christmas season be yours throughout the coming year." The back has the number 603 printed on it along with: Created by Tyrus Wong for California Artists, USA. This greeting card is very collectible due to Wong's illustrious career, most notably as the lead animator on Walt Disney's "Bambi." They are getting harder and harder to find unused. A beautiful keepsake for any collector.

He was a painter, animator, calligrapher, muralist, ceramicist, lithographer and kite maker, as well as a set designer and storyboard artist. One of the most-influential and celebrated Asian-American artists of the 20th century, Wong was also a film production illustrator, who worked for Disney and Warner Brothers. Most notably, he was the lead production illustrator on Disney's 1942 film Bambi, taking inspiration from Song dynasty art.
