    Description

    Length: 51.5”
    Width: 4”
A second installment of a now-ongoing series of unintentionally proto-pixel art neckties: This (probably) needlework-inspired Bold Look era bellywarmer features leaping stags, flowers, and a coat of arms panel printed against a claret ground. Needlework or not, it’s far more fun to imagine it as an inspired preview of all the 8-bit arcade games of the decades yet to pass. Manufacturer unknown, possibly from the Petit Point Paints collection by Beau Brummell, retailed through Jacobi Bros. of Buffalo, NY, c.late-1940s/early-1950s. Excellent vintage vintage.
Founded in 1919, Jacobi Bros. was a leading Buffalo men’s clothier. Its flagship location on Main Street remained open until 1973, when the focus of its operations shifted to its suburban branches; the business closed in 1991.
